Teaching is about enthusiasm. You’ve got to believe in what you are doing. You’ve got to feel enthusiastic to animate others. That’s why I like to bring a theatrical element into the process. The best thing is when you see someone do something they never imagined they could, or when they just learn to really ‘see’ for the first time. It’s a privilege.

I have taught for many years in a wide range of art practices. This has covered workshops for experienced artists, students, and those who simply want to develop new creative skills.

In 1980s and 1990s I taught design and costume at the University of Bristol, art and design at the University of Plymouth, and life drawing at Aardman Animations, the University of the West of England, and the Bristol Drawing School.
